Aug. 8 in Portland, OR at the Schnitzer Auditorium. I would like the ticket to go to a KC fan instead of a Tool fan, and therefore am attempting to sell the ticket through ET and Crimson Connections. The seat is in Dress Circle Sec. D, Row B, Seat 2. The Dress Circle is the first and lowest set of balconies, and is directly above row J or K on the main floor. If you've ever been to the Schnitz, you will know that seats under the balcony on the main floor are terrible (bad sound), and that the Dress Circle offers a nearly perfect visual perspective, especially from the second row where this seat is, and good sound. I obtained the ticket through Ebay, and paid a total of $160 for a pair ($147.50 plus $12.75 for overnight shipping). I'm using the other ticket of the pair. I am not looking to make a profit, and I'm asking for MY face value of $80 for the ticket, payable in cash in person no later than 7pm the night of the show. You can verify what I paid for the pair of tickets by viewing the results of my auction: Item # 1258799945 I'm going to try to be as fair as possible, and will accept emails from interested buyers up to 1pm Pacific Time on Wed. Aug 8. By 2pm, I will have selected one prospective buyer randomly and will contact you by email or phone if you'd prefer. Please DO NOT offer any more money or anything else for the seat. There are a lot of people who want a ticket, and I require an even playing field. Thanks and good luck. Excellant music from Red, VROOOM, Dinosaur, Konstruction of Light, to new pieces that were incredible. Adrian, Trey and Pat prefomed with Robert as the focal medium taking the audience into musical realms some like unto which they have never seen or heard before. Which lead the band -audience connection to return for two encore preformances. The band was tight, crisp, unpredictable and flowed together in Crimson Tones leaving the audience with a musical artistic taste that didn't have to be washed down from any disapointment from lack of talent. I was questioned by friends and family which attended why Robert faced sideways and not towards the audience. But as a artist, musician, preformer that has been bombared from fans since the 60's; I would believe one has to do what one has to do to preserve the mental sanity that can be so easily robbed as you move into the fame category. I couldn't imagine lasting with the intensity he has musically and probably constantly fighting off the wiles of fame. In closing thank you for coming to New Orleans, Louisiana again You have a lot of big fans here. But I would wish if wishes were all possible that you would not preform at the House of Blues again. Too small with so many people and not at all designed for any good band to be really appreciated from the inside building arrangements. Terrible would be kind! Come Back Soon!!!!!!!!!!! Just a suggestion. No, No, No! I for one am perfectly happy with the "old fashioned Jewel Case"! In fact, I've been impatiently waiting for the collectors editions to go away so I can get the jewel case versions! Don't get me wrong, I miss 12" album art as much as anyone in their mid-thirties and older, and I do think the Mini-LP CDs look pretty nice. Unfortunately, it's a pain in the a** to get the discs out of the sleeves, they don't fit on my regular CD racks, and they don't fit in my carrying case so I have to remove the discs and put them in spare jewel cases in order to take them in my car - which often makes me think, 'why bother' and grab a different set of CDs if I'm in a hurry. Also, the slightly larger cover size still doesn't give you *that* much more eye candy... and if I'm not mistaken, the booklets are still the same size as those in the KC jewel cases. The last "special edition" CDs I bought were all the Stones' 70s remasters. In spite of what a nice job they did on them, I've regretted it ever since for the above reasons. For new releases, I'd rather see artists make their artwork fit appropriately to the smaller format (as Tool has nicely done). As for older releases, keep reproducing the original covers at the reduced size, but add new pages with enlarged lyrics and liner notes. I had to buy a magnifying glass to read the article clippings in the KC reissues - and I have pretty good eyesight! Are you listening DGM? Just my $.02 rant. Greg Lake and the band did a faithful -to -the -original rendition of The Court of the Crimson King, which was the third song performed after a Ringo and Beatles song was served up. Quite good, with flute interlude by that Swiss-knife like musician Mark Riveria (but not quite up to Ian McDonald's recording.) The audience of middle age rockers ate it up and gave the band a 3 minute standing ovation! Definitely one of the highlights of the evening. It did not appear in this issue. As I am new to this particular game, I can only guess: 1) it will appear in the next issue (I'd assumed all posts went to the next issue after their transmittal, no? are posts staggered amongst issues?); 2) I transgressed some rule I may not be aware of re: conversations across issues between readers (which wouldn't make much sense, since about 1/3rd of each issue is exactly that sort of thing); 3) some other explanation I can't surmise. As someone who has just re-entered the critiquing arena after a long absence (I'll have a bunch of reviews in the next issue of Progression), I'm finding the prog environment quite a bit more hostile and Gen-X'ed than I would have expected (this will be entertained in two LONG critical letters to be published in Progression and Tone Clusters). Probably that is not the case here, but I'm a tad trepidatious as to how to proceed amongst the auxilliary publications. Things are nowhere near the same as when I used to write for Sound Choice, OPtion, i/e, On Reflection and Camera Obscura. Could you help me out a bit here and let me know what's what? Elaine, That would have been me. The PDA version is a quite popular alternative for reading ET. The main problem is it only gives you the latest issue. If I ever find a moment I want to improve that so you get to select how many issues to load up each hotsync depending on your own personal memory capacity. Glad you like it. It is not impossible, in fact it is quite natural - if you know the music. OK I know I am being totally anal here and I won't be the only person to mention this. But the official name of the White Album is The Beatles. Now naming the LP The Beatles kind of feeds into your point on the post. Why would the Beatles at the time of this release need to call an album the Beatles?? I also thought the White Album was white only here in the States, were the prudish record company objected to naked photos of John and Yoko on the cover (and I'm not saying it's a bad thing to ban pictures of them naked). The band he had play with him included Greg Lake, Roger Hodgson, Ian Hunter, Howard Jones and Sheila E, I know a mighty diverse bunch. Although it was Ringo's show, they were each give plenty of time to shine in the spotlight. Lake did, "in the Court of" for his first lead, sounded great, he also did Karn evil 9, and Lucky Man later in the show, Sheila E, blasted out the drum parts like she owned the songs. Lakes voice was in fine form, Ringo was a ham on stage, and watching him play drums on "in the Court" with a huge smile on his face was a highlight. Overall if you like any of these musicians, and their music, I would suggest going to this show if it passes through your area. I'm writing this to see if it can help to build the additional 10% in order for us Venezuelans to have the opportunity to see Crimson play live. The Teresa Carreno Theater, announced as the place for the concert is a Top Level venue, normally used for opera, classical and to a lesser degree for rock concerts (Yes, Saga recently played there to packed audiences). The band is a 3 piece, and has stunning musicianship and composing. They have a Keyboards-Bass-Drums lineup and the keyboard playing of Novak Sekulovich is stellar and virtuosic-like Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. The drummer,Milo Sekulovich,is simply a monster. Just smokin'. This guy hands down, is the best drummer in Prog rock(yes, better than Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer,Mike Portnoy). The band is managed by ELP and Greg Lake' manager,Bruce Pilato. They have 2 cd's out on the Musea label. They just released anew album called BEYOND THE REACH OF DREAMS. From what I hear, Carl Palmer is a fan of the band.
