John R. Nash points out: >I have managed, with great difficulty, to find something wrong with The >Great Deceiver boxed set. On the edge label of the CD, disc three is >labeled 'disc four', and disc four is labeled 'disc three.' The colors >match the correct volume colors, though. > >Also, the crowns in the corners of the CD's clearly were made for a square >boxed set, not a rectangular one. Given the title of the box set and the statements like "all is not what it seems", isn't it possible that "deceptive" packaging was the intent, not an accident? on other post, John Relph notes: >>Fripp: I never did drugs, you see, so I was only told about the connection. >French confection, French Connection, drugs, get the connection? I got a great laugh out of this too. And I'd never heard Fripp make a statement about drugs before. Fripp seemed to enjoy addressing the "happy hippies" in his audience, and I guess knew that lots of the audience (and perhaps the rest of the band) were tripping on LSD or stoned on pot. Fripp seemed to take some delight in this: "The audience never recovered from the first shock, their condition being delicate anyway. I had the impression of the crowd being squashed." - Robert Fripp. OCTOBER 29, 1969 I've never heard McLaughlin talk about drugs before, but to me his lp DEVOTION was a pretty obviously psychadelic influenced recording. >Here in the USofA Eno's Ali Click single came out with an extra track, "I >Fall Up" or somesuch. It really sounds as if it's Fripp playing the guitar >on this track, but he's not credited on the liner notes. (Probably because >the liner notes were taken from the original UK single.) Is that Fripp? >Or does it just sound like him? I'm convinced this is Fripp too. This track was another one that was to be on the squashed release "MY SQUELCHY LIFE". And by my ears it sounds remixed and different - the MSL mix I heard had a shorter and more concise guitar solo - the released version on the CD5 has much more guitar added and is longer than the other version that never got released. Also, I think it's possibly/probably Percy Jones on bass on this track. - Malcolm [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] From: warlock at halloween dot EBay dot Sun dot COM (Dennis Montgomery) Subject: "Epitaph" Date: 14 Dec 92 16:19:02 GMT Organization: Sun Microsystems, Inc. I just saw the box set on a recent trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in Schoolkid's Records (one of the most comprehensive record stores in the US Midwest) priced at around $110...
