PLEASE, if you know your account is going to be withdrawn, or you're going to leave your job/college/school/penal institution/whatever, please try and let me know. It's a real pain to process all these 'unknown user' returns! Picking up on this thread...I wonder what the likelihood will be of guest musicians making appearances with King Crimson on various tracks. It seems to me that having a guest saxophonist or a guest vocalist sit in with the core group would greatly expand the overall sound. I'm not necessarily advocating the extreme case ( like Steely Dan ) where Belew and Fripp would write the music and then choose a particular rhythm section and guest soloists, if needed, to fit a particular song or instrumental. For example, a guest percussionist for a "rock gamelan" type tune; a guest pianist and saxophonist for a ballad; maybe even a rapper for an especially funky tune. King Crimson and rap music inconceivable? I'm sure fans from "Wetton and Bruford" era or "Lake, Sinfield, and Giles" era Crimson would not have thought of a new Crimson incorporating punk and gamelan music. Fripp seems like someone who follows trends pretty closely, so its not unreasonable to assume, given that he took up punk so enthusiastically, that he would not react to hip hop with similar enthusiasm. I would like to see Donald Fagen guesting on a future Crimson album. Steely Dan was very progressive in its own way ( what other band would come up with a composition like "Aja"?). I really liked the sound of Crimson with a jazzy piano player. Just imagine King Crimson covering Steely Dan's "Green Earrings". Fagen singing and jamming on electric piano. Fripp and Belew playing the interlocking, funky rhythm guitars. Fripp takes the first solo, negotiating the treacherous chord changes with ease. Belew follows with the second solo, rip roaring with abandon. Just one person's fantasy... According to Guitar Craft services, it's only available in the dreaded cassette format! Yecch! Here's what the release sheet says: "A blistering collection of music from the film 'Raw Power', composed and performedon the Stick - a ten stringed hybrid instrument that combines the disciplines of the drum, the keyboard and the guitar." I'm really interested in this thing, if it wasn't only on cassette, I'd probably order it in a second. Does anyone have this or know anything further about it? BTW, it's $10 (USA) with postage and handling from: Guitar Craft Merchandise 351 Magnolia Ave. Long Beach, CA 90802 USA If anyone gets this, please get in touch with me! Postage to Canada is additional $5 if you can believe it! I know for a fact that shipping a single cassette to Canada air mail costs less thatn $1!
