Is USA still available, or what? --- Toby] Unfortunately, I've never seen it on CD...anyone know if it was *ever* a CD rerelease (possibly in the 1st batch of Crimso imports before Fripp got involved in the remastering)? It's a mystery why it's not been included in the Fripp remastered batch... I imagine he must despise it or something. Alas, I continue to drag out my popping, noisy, and overused album from time to time :) KingCrimson*ELP*Marillion*Tull*Sepultura**GentleGiant*Minutemen*Beatles*Fish* *Morbid Angel**TerracedGarden**Eloy**801**PFM*KateBush**Entombed*Greenslade** * * H "Looking behind me the water turns icy blue... I've got a 1973 video of the first 5-6 minutes from Larks' Tongues from USA (the United States cable channel.) It's a live clip done in a television studio. I've also seen (but never taped) videos for the songs Heartbeat and Sleepless. I don't remember everything about each, but here's what I do. Heartbeat featured Belew at a party type atomsphere perhaps, very sadly not finding anyone. I remember bad lighting. As for Sleepless, I've been looking for this one for years now. It's a slicker produced clip. Lots of camera movement in circles, around each member seperatly. Bruford's only playing a verticle Simmons kit, which are in a circle around him. I also remember Levin shadow boxing. I only saw Sleepless twice, and both times it was on MTV back in 1984. For the record, they also played the Japan ToaPPair concert a few times (edited, only 60 minutes, not the full version I've got.) I'd really like to see this clip again, as I remember the visual effects. I was hoping it'd be included on the Japan concert or even the 1982 France video. Does anyone have this on tape? Cheers! Now that I've listened to "Waiting Man", it does seem like Fripp wrote the tune and made Adrian come up the words to it. On the other hand, songs like "Heartbeat" and "Two Hands" sound like *Crimsonized* Belew songs. I now regret that I missed Adrian's solo tour! It would be pretty hard for Adrian to find musicians who could play the Crimson material at the technical skill level of Fripp,Bruford, and Levin. If he wanted a band that could play those songs with all the fancy syncopations and harmonic twists he would need, IMHO: (assuming he couldn't get any of the three guys mentioned above) Bass - Anthony Jackson, Jeff Berlin, or Abe Laboriel Drums - Vinnie Colaiuta or Peter Erskine Guitar - Al di Meola, Frank Gambale, or Steve Morse This is assuming he only had access to US musicians. The players Adrian would need to play as well as Fripp, Bruford, and Levin would have to be at the caliber of the musicians listed above. I'm not saying Belew's band was *bad*; just that the players he would need would probably cost $$$ for him to hire for a tour if he wanted those songs played at a high level of complexity. Besides, nothing wrong with straight rock 'n roll! I haven't been able to get my hands on _Red_ yet ( anybody know a good mail order place? ), but "Requiem" (from _Beat_) rocks pretty hard. Its the closest thing I ever heard to a guitar duel between Adrian and Robert. Reminds me of Pat Metheny and Ornette Coleman on the legendary free jazz opus _Song X_. Does Robert play like this on the older Crimson material? Has he recorded any fusion records? Finally, any opinions/recommendations of the new Brian Eno album _Nerve Net_ would be appreciated. It is quite good :-) Which are the 'best' records of that band? Can you recommend some records? Please Email 'till September 17., afterwards I'll move to another country and I don't have an Email adress there yet. Tony plays Bass and Stick Bass on three songs and produces two of them. Also on the album are Larry Fast and Jerry Marotta. The songs that Tony, Jerry, and Larry play on have quite a "Gabriel" feel to them (as you'd expect) but no writing was done by any of these three.
