Yes, I know the entire band is given credit for the music and Adrian Belew was credited for the lyrics ( for the last three albums ). I guess what I'm really asking is by what process was the music created? Did Fripp write the music, which Belew then set to words, or was it more complicateed than that? Bruford ONLY drummed for the Trick of the Tail tour. (1976). When he left, Chester Thompson was suggested for the Wind and Wuthering tour. He was never in the band in 1976. Bruford drums only on Cinema Show, and the rest of Seconds out must have been from W&W tour (perhaps the soundboard quality was better or something....). It's impossible for Chester to have taken over from Bruford in the middle of that tour, as Afterglow is on Seconds Out, and that didn't happen until Wind and Wuthering, recorded in November/December 1976. Perhaps the W&W tour started VERY shortly after Trick ended, that's always a possibilty, but I don't know. Seeya! This is fantastic news, the news I think everyone wanted to hear relative to the latest boxed set - Frame By Frame. It seems Fripp heard the loud calls for more quality unreleased live material. The article said the various boxes will contain material not heard anywhere from Fripp's personal tapes, and will be quality live recordings (not true of most Bootleg CD's & records IMHO, having spent nearly a fortune seeking GOOD live Crimson). Has Fripp followed thourgh on his threat to do a disc of only various live versions of 21st Century Schizoid Man? I thought he was just joking. I can see it now: one disk of 21st Century Schizoid Man, one of Cat Food, one of Easy Money, one of Lark's Tongue... It's about time. Seems to me there's historically been little live releases of Crimson, and the stuff in the boxed set just dipped into material that's already been widely accessible as bootlegs. The Frame live disk struck me as Fripp's take on Zappa's Beat The Boots series. And 70's Crimson was widely known for improvising live and being much more powerful than their recorded works reflected. I've heard lots of very unique live Crimson and have hours of it on tape - it's about time we had some more official documentation of these guys cutting loose, and for Dr. Diamond to be officially released. Here's a Fripp quote I found in the January 1991 issue of Guitar Player, where Fripp finishes his column for the last time: "...Guitar Craft ( his guitar course ) may open a door. Perhaps the bathroom door." Well, it just seemed funny to me... > I know I'm one who would like it if radio (and MTV) was more progressive > (with a lower-case p), so I could hear some of the more obscure bands. I Well, strangely enough, the only place one will hear King Crimson on the radio ( and rarely, at that! ) here in San Diego, CA is on the local commercial alternative rock station 91X. Yes, folks, King Crimson here is somehow placed into a category that includes Pearl Jam, The Cure, U2, Depeche Mode, etc. But then again, 91X only plays Crimson material from the 80s... Maybe that's why the classic rock stations here will play vintage Yes and, if we listeners are good, old Genesis, but not vintage Crimson. > > It's an autographed tour poster for Fripp & The League of Crafty > guitarists. > How about a poster of Fripp and Belew? > Highly recommended music by guitarist Michael Brook. I read that Brook invented the Infinite Guitar device. It sounds a lot like the Sustaniac string driver system. Basically allows infinite sustain like an Ebow, but allows chords. Lanois and the Edge are reportedly proud Infinite Guitar owners. This device can really fool the listener into thinking he's hearing something other than a guitar. If anyone out there has tried it or something similar, like Hamer's Sustaniac or the Kramer/Fernandes Sustainer, I'd like to read what your impressions are. I'm very pleased that I joined this list! I do remember reading Robert Fripp's review of the _Frame by Frame_ boxed set in Musician magazine. I remember thinking, gee, so many positive comments, this reviewer must be a fan and at the end of the review, this person makes the following bold statemtents: "...(band) rehearsals will begin this spring. A new record will be out by the end of this year. As always, King Crimson will be different; and the same..." *Then* I see the reviewer's name "R.Fripp"! Is this where the rumors started or was Fripp interviewed elsewhere? By the time the media guys got to Adrian Belew, *he* was already being asked if he would join!
