Toby, I had picked up the latest Goldmine prior to your posting in discipline and I must say it is essential that we put out the good news: King Crimson will regroup again in some form in '92 according to Fripp's own written documented account. This issue has other `essential` Crimso info as well: from Page 8: `What the as-yet-unheard 1992 model Crimson will sound like we can only guess. Yes, that's right-the Crimson King will be holding court once again. from Page 15 : 'Fripp is considering the possibility of releasing more vintage Crimson material from the archives. Fripp: "One suggestion I've made to Virgin/EG, because I`m catalog superviso of the King Crimson catalog for Virgin, is to do the Essential King Crimson Live and do a thorough retrospective of all the extand live recordings of the all the different incarnations of the band. King Crimson did a lot of live recordings which are the property of the group. If you said where are they physically located, I would say close to my hands.' from Page 108 : "Now what you could have, for example, is an album purely of "Schiziod Man" - alternative live versions from 1969 to 1974. I don't know how may people would play it, but the point is there is now a vehicle for rarities items in which it's stated fairly clear ahead of time, look, these are for collectors. The criteria which one applies to normal standard releases may be suspended in terms of rarities". Fripp let slip that he also plans a collection of the Concise King Crimson, but he's keeping mum about that one for now. 108 continued : King Crimson came close to being re-activated in 1987. "At one point in 1986 into `87, I was asked to do the music for a film version of Necromancer, the William Gibson book. I met with the producers on several occasions- went out to Shepperton (Film Studios) for meetings. As part of doing music for the film, I was intending King Crimson to do some of the music. 'Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part Four` was part of that. However, the film dropped through. The musical ingredients of 'Lark's Four' are stil present, although when they appear, the title may be different." THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE ARTICLE : Page 108 : If that project came to nothing, plans for a new King Crimson to emerge in 1992 look more concrete. Fripp describes the new lineup as being "in place", but he considers it "premature" to reveal exactly who will be involved-although he did admit that Belew and Levin will be returning to the fold. "Although I've had some preliminary musical forays, the full band has not yet met in rehearsal yet, and probably won`t until spring, although various combinations are meeting to begin to develop the musical vocabulary and new material." There may even be a D below the F making it simply a 2nd inversion B flat major chord (It's so distorted I can't tell but it works both ways!). The lower downbeat (Wetton's bass) is a G. A band I was in around 1987 did some Crimso tunes, including "Larks' part II". The funny thing was when we did "In the Court", there's this long break before the "Dance of the Puppets" section, and since almost no one knew the song, people would always applaud during this break. When the "Puppets" section did start, people thought we were trying to be funny!
