Here is a track list of the CD. The first 8 are from Lone Rhino, the second 8 are from Twang Bar King, and the last 5 are from Desire Caught By The Tail. The Final Rhino The Lone Rhinoceros Big Electric Cat The Momur Hot Sun The Man On The Moon Swingline Adidas In Heat Fish Head The Ideal Woman Sexy Rhino Twang Bar King Paint The Road She Is Not Dead The Rail Song Ballet For A Blue Whale The Gypsy Zurna Joan Miro's Procession Through The Insides Of A Purple Antelope Across A Sea Of Tuna Fish Portrait Of Margaret Laughing Man Guernica Most of the first two albums are on the CD. I think two tracks from Lone Rhino and three from Twang Bar King are left off. The sound is great, but (maybe it was just my tape) the songs from Lone Rhino sounds a little different. I can't quite put my finger on it, but maybe the remastering changed it somehow. And on one of the songs, the vocals sound different, like they used a different vocal track for the CD. All griping aside, this is an excellent CD. The first two albums are not available elsewhere on CD, so this is a must have for any serious Belew fan!! I finally received the Abbreviated King Crimson and it's not in a Digipak! It's the USA Caroling pressing, and for some odd reason it has a big green circle on it that says "USA", is the UK version any different? [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] Date: Sun, 10 Nov 91 16:38:42 GMT From: Toby Howard Subject: King Crimson music I'm seeking some musical details of Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part II. Has anyone transcribed it, or can halp with changes/meter? I transcribed the middle two-guitar section in L.T.in A part III some time ago, and I'm happy to send this to anyone interested (paper not email). Thanks Toby PS I bought the Essential KC Box Set. It's 53 pounds here in UK but worth every penny... PPS ...I keep telling myself :-) No, it is, really. This is surprising since they don't seem to like Yes/ Crimson at all!! (Trashed Yes' latest tour, and gave Union a 'D'. 2) Happened to notice this bit of trivia: in 1969 (around that time), King Crimson opened for the Rolling Stones! This was pretty much their big break. It's intriguing to see that the Stones could have a band so different open up for them. 3) At this point, I am looking for: i) Earthbound: Crimson's first live album 11) Any Crimson boots Anyone willing to trade (or just chat), give me a call. Mike Trnka asks a "Boxed Set Question": > > There seems however to be one blaring mistake, >but I am unsure whether this only occurs on my copy of the set. On the >live disk The Talking Drum is listed as lasting 29'04". On my disc It only >lasts 8'30". Yes, that is one of the many typos that have been noticed by Disciplinarians. The Charlatan asks: >What I'd like to know about now is the 7 track CD EP Fripp released >in tandem with the box called "The Abbreviated King Crimson". > >What's on it? Was it tinkered with too? What's it look like? I posted the discography entry for The Abbreviated King Crimson recently. I have discovered that I have made an error: The CD with catalog number KCCOL 1 is actually the UK version, on E'G/Virgin records, in a digipak box. The US version is on E'G/Caroline and is called _The Abbreviated King Crimson: Heartbeat US_ and has catalog number CAROL 1467-2 (or something like that). I don't have the US version, but I would like to know whether the US version of Abbreviated KC has different versions of the tracks than the UK version. I haven't compared the timings. Enzo Deflorio asks: >I would like to receive the lyrics of RED. I have some lyrics, but I know they are not correct. Anybody care to correct them? Here they are: Fallen Angel ------------ Tears of joy at the birth of a brother Never alone from that time Sixteen years through knife fights and danger Strangely why his life not mine? Snow white side streets of cold New York City Stained with his blood all live on Sick and tired, blue, waking and wild God only knows for how long Fallen Angel One More Red Nightmare ----------------------- Red American nightmare Ten thousand feet fun fair Convince her that I don't care Take the [towdies] I swear Of just sitting musing The [virgins are / virtues of] cruising With altitude dropping My ears started popping One more red nightmare To begin it to pour down My knickers are turned round While [urplegin / children] shouting Their uncle was laughing The fellow from some scene I don't who it can be The steward obeyed me But the captain forbade me One more red nightmare Reality stirred me My angel had heard me The prayer had been answered A reprieve had been granted The dream was now broken Though rudely awoken Me safe and sound Asleep on the Greyhound One more red nightmare Peace, y'all. -- John [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] To join this group or have your thoughts in the next issue, please send electronic mail to Toby Howard at the following address: toby at cs dot man dot ac dot uk The views expressed in discipline are those of the individual authors only.
