(i was also pleased they recently put out a new reunion double CD, Present, and the fact that Hammill survived and recovered from a heart attack several years ago.) so that leaves me w/ their old catalog: everything from The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other all the way up to the Live CD, Vital: about a half dozen. i don't kno how one goes about contacting another w/ this newer more secure system, but i assume there is a way. whoever wants these can have them for the cost of the postage, which won't be very much, depending on how you want them shipped, and i live in Ohio. it is first come first served. as soon as someone claims them i will post it. good luck, matthew ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2006 20:28:22 -0400 From: Rob Levit Subject: Tony Geballe Guitar master Tony Geballe will headline the Emerging Artist Concert Series, Wednesday October 11, 730pm, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis, MD.Joining Tony on the all-acoustic instrumental evening will be fingerstyle masters Ken Bonfield and Bryan Aspey. http://tickets.marylandhall.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=626 MHCA Emerging Artist Series, Rob Levit, Artistic Director ------- Tony Geballe w/special guests Bryan Aspey and Ken Bonfield Wednesday, October 11, 2006 7:30 pm Tony's career has spanned the globe, ranging from solo guitar work to the Turkish music trio "Dostlar" to being a member of the New York Indonesian Consulate Gamelan. "Knowlege is Power" :) Also, there is fresh news at Robert Fripp's diary in dgmlive.com-September 29, 2006. There are photographs of his volume pedals and this description: "A glorious Soundscape & solo are playing themselves, Ade has popped back upstairs while John is setting up the recording. The Soundscape is in a loop set to 21 & 28 seconds, the solo 80 & 86 seconds. Further soloing is possible over this, via the Eclipse. I am quite happy listening to the music unfold itself, as once I heard Discreet Music playing itself in Eno's front room (while we went to the kitchen for tea). If all of life could be this easy." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2006 17:24:16 -0400 From: Hank Finke Subject: Gig Review P6 in Boston Last week I saw Projekct Six warm up for Porcupine Tree at the Berklee Performing Arts Center. It is an excellent venue which has limited seating and superb acoustics. The audience was there to see Prog Rock so they gave Fripp the respect he is due. At no points were there boos or noises during quiet or silent portions. One female PT took a flash photo of her buddy with a cellphone but the show did not grind to a halt. There was absolutely no interaction with the audience, even from AB. Belew played a big set of electronic drums. Fripp sat stage right and sat before several racks of gear. Belew triggered bass lines with his drums and Fripp performed soundscapes and solos on top of it. The music was very repetitive and never really lit on fire. Bear in mind, I've seen Frippertronics since the Kitchen concerts in the Seventies so I knew what I was in for. Fripp surely soloed a lot. Probably more in the 45 minute show than the past 5 KC concerts combined. That was great. But while he was technically amazing ,the lines were echoes of the past. And they did not "melt paint" in the way only he can. He came close to it at points and surely impressed the PT neophytes, but he seemed restrained nonetheless. On the other hand, some of the more serene bits where quiet beautiful. Belew is a competent drummer but the electronic kit just does not sound good. I disliked it when KC used it and still do. They lack the warmth and impact of real drums. Certainly the same samples could have been triggered using real drums, so I fail to see why Fripp continues to require them. I do not think this was a glimpse into any future KC activities (if it happens). It did prove that Fripp still has what it takes and can rock when he wants to. ------------------------------ End of Elephant Talk Digest #1246 *********************************
