Request for the chords for "North Star" from Exposure by Robert Fripp. Over at The FraKctured Zone, Hugh Schiebler has written... "I am an occasional visitor to your website. I have also just started to (learn to) play the guitar again, having taken about a 15 year hiatus. The recent re-release of "Exposure" has reminded me of what a beautiful song "North Star" is - and how wonderful it would be to learn to play it. My question to you is: can you possibly help me with the chords/music notation and/or tab for this song? I have searched the web & the Crimson-related sites and come up empty handed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!" So, can any kind person help? If so, please send your chord charts, tab, score or whatever to webmaster at frakctured dot ukf dot net Many thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Aug 2006 11:20:08 +0200 (CEST) From: Subject: EXPOSURE REISSUE review on Paris Transatlantic I thought you might enjoy my review of the Exposure 2-CD set on www. paristransatlantic.com, maybe link it on Elephant Talk if you want (please quote name and URL in that case, thanks!) I would be the first to defend the right of an artist who has first mastered form to later abandon it. (I think I once read something along these lines for Japanese artists.) I own most King Crimson CD's, perhaps one day the door will open to what I call space music. Recently on Prog'opolis I heard Sustaynz from ProjecKt two which begins in formless state and them moves in to "directional" music, it at least gives an entree to what he is doing, and I liked it. By contrast "Crash" by Bozzio Levin and Stevens, (which I also heard on Prog'opolis) is a masterful example of composition that does have form, it is also raw energy. Perhaps it is on a different plane, I too can be serene but I also like to come down to action. In this case I bought the album. Davo (Downunder) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2006 16:00:26 -0700 (PDT) From: Edgar Kausel E. Subject: Jamie Muir... author, author? According to imdb.com, Jamie Muir has directed "Balderdash & Piffle" , "A History of Britain" , and some episodes of Forces of Nature and The Empire of Good Intentions . Supposedly, it's THE Jamie Muir, because he's also credited as a composer of "Ghost Dance" (with Mike Giles), and "sometimes credited as King Crimson". Who can confirm this? Thanks. Did they have fans following them around that put this particular incarnation of KC among the best bands of the time? Was KC headlining all through this period? opening? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jul 2006 11:21:43 +0000 From: progopolis Subject: Bruford Hour on The Crimson Connection Coming up Saturday July 29 on "Prog'opolis", we'll be celebrating the career of the legendary Bill Bruford during the hour-long segment we call The Crimson Connection. There's enough incredible material in Mr. Bruford's repertoire to fill an entire four-hour show, but we think we've done him justice with the songs we've selected. The show begins at 7pm Pacific time at www.thedividingline.com and all are invited to swing by the website chatroom and say hello. The archive of the show will be available for a week following the broadcast, so don't despair if you miss the live broadcast! love and prog, Vince and Daisy Prog'opolis hosts Show page: http://www.thedividingline.com/p Stream: http://www.thedividingline.com/parchive.pls Download: http://www.thedividingline.com/archives/parchive.ogg -- PROG. They are going to be in Nashville on July 28 (which is only 30 minutes from where I live), but I am unable to go unfortunately. It would be nice to turn in a report. Speaking back to the fellow about Porcupine Tree it seems that Belew and Fripp both consider them seriously. Belew does a couple of solos on their most recent album. I consider their last two records to be just good rock and roll...not even close to progressive music. If one listens to them like that they aren't bad. Some of their earlier stuff might be considered progressive in the Pink Floydish style with a touch of Parsons perhaps. They are, to me, enjoyable to me to listen to as I always liked that psych sound since the late 60's. But to each his own. These are comments and not criticism. I gotta admit that KC (once again in my book) is the best prog band of all time. Other greats follow like Yes etc., but I'm always more than entertained by KC. I'm challenged as a close listener. All the fascinating changes and the willingness to improvise when playing live reminds me of some of the old jazz greats like Parker, Coltrane, Dolphy, and Davis. Those guys could do some fascinating changes in their improvisations also. Well, I've said enough. I, like a lot of other people hope that KC will get back together soon in whatever form and throw some new music at us John ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Jul 2006 20:55:38 -0400 (EDT) From: terence kroetsch Subject: Giles Styles: Brothers Go Missing Hey - did I miss something? I recall seeing information on various sites (including DGM, I thought) as well as on amazon about the Giles Brothers Live CD (I forget the dates - 1967-1970?), Then, suddenly, nothing - amazon reports it is not available, no other logical site lists it - does this thing exist? Can it be bought? I got excited about it after watching those Schizoid DVDs - I love those two - Peter is great and Michael, well, Michael.... Someone please help me. Now Playing: Colin Scott solo CD [1971] reissue - lovely subtle work by VDGG, Genesis alumni as well as RF. More exciting than the similar CD by Gordon Jackson filled with Traffic members. ------------------------------ End of Elephant Talk Digest #1240 *********************************
