Jan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2006 16:58:28 -0700 (PDT) From: John B. and Mary Pace Subject: Greetings all Well, what fun I've had. I turned off to Crimson many years ago when Lizard came out. I simply didn't like it and didn't understand it at the time and expected them to be the Crimson of Greg Lake's days. Well, a year or so ago I decided to check out some Crimson and purchased The Power To Believe. That was all it took. I eventually had all their prerecorded stuff, including Lizard, which I now thoroughly enjoy. Ah, there are a few that I don't like as well as others, but there is something positive to be said about each and every album. I've picked up several live ones including Absent Lovers and a few that I purchased and downloaded from the DGM site. Also, I checked out what other projects that Adrian and RF have been into which gave me some more great stuff to check out like no-man, and Porcupine Tree. If there is anything else that you folks know of that is Crimson related out there, please do feel me in. I'm sure there are some more tasty morsels I am missing. Thanks for the newsletter. Listen to "Live at Cap D'Age" - that's not the same tape! Somehow the Cap D'Age version has a more authentic feel to it - it is a poorer recording, more garbled and indisctinct. Perhaps this is the original, and the more familiar version on Discipline and other live versions was re-recorded for better quality? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Apr 2006 19:07:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Gerard York Subject: Mel Collins & Adrian Belew A few newsletters back I asked about the involvement of Mel Collins with the current Crimson. I now have at least part of my answer, having received Adrian Belew's "Side Three" yesterday: Mel Collins plays saxophone on "Beat Box Car" and flutes for "Truth Is." (Fripp plays flute guitar on "Water Turns to Wine.") This is a great recording and I hope we can expect something similar on the next Crimson album. "Side Three" is as good as the two before it. ------------------------------ End of Elephant Talk Digest #1227 *********************************
