Surely Robert has hidden subconscious propaganda for humane business models behind the notes of the soundscape. I think he saw his chance to make his mind-bending music reach out to an audience that must be hundreds of thousands or even millions of times bigger than it uses to (I have no idea what Vista sales have been predicted to). But I also felt something was wrong with that move. It seems Robert has not only ignored his business ethics beliefs, but also some of his artistic ones. A man who allows no cameras, phones or recording when he performs, mainly so that people will focus on the music, has let his music become a background element that will probably annoy more people than it will convert. I know I've never used sounds with Windows (or any other OS for that matter), it's extremely annoying when you want to listen to some classic KC while working with your computer! /Rikard ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2006 23:13:24 EST From: Bknt Subject: Steve Sthole Steve Sthole is missed. He encouraged, supported and archived the numerous ruminations of that altered ego, Norbert Fragg. He loved King Crimson. He loved Robert Fripp's work and was happy to listen, and listened eagerly. Subject: Musical Discovery Service Dear collegues: I have found an interesting service for discovering music related to one's tastes. I am sure fellow ETers would find pleasure in entering names such as King Crimson or Robert Fripp into the engine and see what it brings to your ears. Address is http://www.pandora.com I'm looking forward to listening to the new incarnation of King Crimson, I hope they have in mind a Southamerican tour (a real one). Theres some great recordings from the 1984 tour ,theres some great shows stereo Masters and 1st gen tapes from the Nyork84 shows and others venues, with great sound ,if Fripp wants to released them ,i would be very happy. Unfortunately, up until now this has not happened. Maybe this would make a fine download for the dgmlive.com site? I have recorded the broadcast on internet, but the quality really is not that good and I would love to get my hands on (and gladly pay for) an official release or download from that performance. Something happened a few years ago, and after a most fecund and frothy period of almost daily ET digests, we've dropped to once every 50-60 days or so. Have we bickered and bantered and made a broo-ha-ha of all there is to discuss? What is the official count on the e-mail list? Is it time for a re-freshed view of ET from the ET team? Thoughts? Maybe we need an iPod give-away?
