I might be able to help you, Jim ! The Lounge Lizards are probably the band you want. Arto Lindsey on guitar, who was playing stuff that sounded inside-out at the time. And John Zorn on horns. They make good foils for each other on this album. And the rest of the musicians are superb. It's sort of tongue-in-cheek - amazing music dressed up as cheezey toones or silly noise. King Crimson doing a cabaret night in a club just this side of Hell, grinning all the way through. Now that would be an interesting record! But get hold of The Lounge Lizards in the meantime. No, it's not an April's fool joke or something like that: Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are shown during an interview in their Beverly Hills home October 14, 2004. Ozzy Osbourne has returned to his satanic roots by recording a version of the Rolling Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil' for an upcoming covers CD. The disc, one of four to be featured in a boxed set due February 2005, also includes fresh takes on the Beatles' 'In My Life,' King Crimson's '21st Century Schizoid Man' and Arthur Brown's 'Fire,' Osbourne told Reuters during the interview. REUTERS/Fred Prouser Here's the link for those thinking it's a joke! http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=3Dstory&u=3D/041015/ids_photos_en/r3720542393.jpg Well I'm sure he'll change the title and the lyrics "21st Century F***ing schizoid man". ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Oct 2004 10:49:22 -0400 From: m.k. smith Subject: socialist of the day regarding these remarks: First of all we are not all hippies, thank you very much. Secondly, the "overdub" in eyes wide open IS NOT an overdub. It is simply a poor video edit, morons. Don't worry about issues which require thought and just go on voting for the socialist of the day, as most of you assuredly do. Jason of The Mustard Seed hey, Mustard Seed (is that analogous to a bad seed?) i agree we are not hippies, altho i was one 30 years ago, and liked it. (and i for one didn't think this was an overdub. calling someone a "moron" does little to heighten their innate level if intelligence and self-esteem), but what is this voting for the "socialist of the day" crap? i would imagine that since most ET readers are intelligent, free-thinking, eclectic individuals that the likes of Fahrenheit 9/11 sat pretty well w/ the "most of us". it is a shame there is no apocalyptic K.C. music in it, (altho the ending sounded a little like foreboding Phillip Glass). and at any rate, this is NOT the forum to be dispensing your lousy political acumen. perhaps you are British, but that's still no excuse. most of us Americans consider the socialist of any day to be the option/antithesis of our current arrogant, numbskull president (who if he had his pin-headed, fundamentalist way, would outlaw progressive music as being satanic). i think we should leave our political opinions out of ET. it would turn into chaos, and it certainly has nothing to do w/ good music. m.k. smith ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2004 08:24:11 -0400 From: thrang Subject: Crimson gone from iTunes Music Store Up until a few weeks ago, there were two or three recent releases from Crimson on the ITMS, including "Thrak" and "The Power to Believe." Now there's nothing. Did I hear somewhere that Fripp finally gained control of the entire Crimson catalogue recently, and if so, I wonder if the two events are connected. If true, it's a shame, since I was hoping the entire catalog would become available as a way to acquire some earlier Crimson I don't own. For Eno fans, the opposite is true - more and more of Eno's work is available on ITMS. This is political satire at it's sharpest. It's done by Wayne Lammers (lyrics & vocals) and Pete Levin (music composition & performance). And yes, this is the same Pete Levin who is the brother of Tony Levin and has appeared on a couple of Tony's CD's. Apparently as a keyboardist (mainly jazz) Pete has played with as many artists as brother Tony. Runs in the family I guess. Any other Levin brothers or sisters out there making music? Anyway, even though it's not prog, I give GOP Party Monsters a strong thumbs up. Unfortunately I don't stock it, but if anyone's interested in checking it out, you can go to . The website has a few soundbites as well. This version of the band was not only the best version, but one of the best bands ever. While they may have not done improvs the way the current band nor the band before them did, the freedom within a song that Belew and company had was amazing to see. One question: why is Tony Levin playing a sampler (keyboard, whatever) that seems to play only bass notes. Why could he not play them on his bass.
