I am a fan of the Lizard album and can=B4t quite understand why most KC fans stay away from it. Now, I would really like to know if the second part of the album, the Lizard suite, was ever played live by the band? If so, are there recorded "documents" of the performance? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Sep 2004 14:36:12 -0400 From: John Relph Subject: Pastoral Rock Folks, It appears that a Japanese compilation was released in 2003 which features a track by Giles, Giles & Fripp. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out what track is included. None of the websites have the information in English... If you can read Japanese, please visit http://www.neowing.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UICY-4108 and let me know what GGF track is included on the CD. Thanks! -- John ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2004 15:04:55 +0200 From: Roderich von Detten Subject: discipline era cover art font good evening hippies, this is a question which has already been posted to this newsgroup by some colleagues years ago, but with no real success: does anybody know which font type is used on the discipline era cover artwork? the suggestions "ITC Fenice" & "Engraver's Gothic" are definitely wrong - any other idea ? thank you very much! best regards roderich ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2004 17:42:32 +0400 From: Alex Shaduri Subject: "Eyes Wide Open" overdubs I want to reply to a post about the overdubs in "Eyes Wide Open" DVD. Actually, I did notice one for sure - its in "The ConstruKction of Light", at about 22:22 from the start. Fripp is playing his part and suddenly he stops, while his guitar's sound continues. Note that I'm refering to the stereo version, don't know if it's the same in 5.1. Just thought I'd clear this thing out a bit. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Sep 2004 18:44:33 +0100 From: mister_friendly2001 Subject: KCCC # 24 I just got a copy of the KCCC Guildford 1972 show. Track 4 " Exiles " = cuts out abruptly @ 2.56 mins to an improvisation which then cuts out = again @ 4.36 when the CD ends. Is my copy unique or are all copies like = it ?. Thanks in advance. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Sep 2004 05:08:06 -0400 From: Mike Subject: Re: King Crimson Accurate Discography/Barter I may be able to help you with your discography. On my Crimson site, there is a complete discography of the band and various members (past and present). There will be more added to the discography section in the near future. If I can be of any help, my email address is on my site. Vladimir, I have a copy of Frame By Frame: The Essential King Crimson. I can burn you a copy of all four discs if you can't find anyone else who can help you out. Maybe we can do a little trading. If you need to contact me about it my email addy is on my site. Cheers, Mike P.S. To anyone that cares, October 9th, the great John Lennon's birthday. We need a drummer for these gigs, so if you know anyone who might be suitable (who lives within rehearsing distance of London) could you ask them to telephone Mick Paul at his studio in Sussex on 01903 209284 or email him (mick dot froosound at virgin dot net). The very best to you all! Frame by Frame's three studio plus one live album are being replace by a two volume, eight CD guide, a comprehensive overview for new ears of all that is necessary in the Crimson corpus. Old generation completists might disagree with some choices, but material not included in the guide is available for new generation completists, should they wish. The Guide can only exist now that the complete King Crimson recorded work (live and studio) is, for the first time, in one place: DGM; and the place where, arguably also for the first time, it is not being driven to serve the interests of business." - Robert Fripp, July 2004 (note - volume 2 slated for 2005) Gary ************************************************************** Gary Davis The Artist Shop The Other Road http://www.artist-shop.com artshop at artist-shop dot com phone: 877-856-1158, 330-929-2056 fax:330-945-4923 INDEPENDENT PROGRESSIVE MUSIC!!! ************************************************************** Check out the latest Artist Shop newsletter at http://www.artist-shop.com/news.htm ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Sep 2004 21:40:56 +0200 From: Claus Poulsen Subject: Metal Tour Box Hello hippies I have a "metal your box" for trade, which includes Vroom badge 1995/96 tour programme gold thrak CD limited edidion tin box with kc logo anyone interested contact me off-list at claus at menneske dot dk otherwise, i'm looking very much forward to the upcoming new DGM site best, Claus ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2004 15:52:22 -0400 From: Dan Buxbaum Subject: Hear some (older) original music of mine (if you wish)- If anyone is interested, a friend has been gracious enough to post all 3 of my earlier recordings (from '99 and back) on his website -- complete tracks, full cds -- see the link at bottom. (Current in-progress music is coming along slowly: 5 years and counting!) Anyway, I would direct your attention to the disc called 'Cloud One' (with the plain home-made blue cover). It is the newest of the recordings and the one with the best sound quality. I would characterize the music as being 'organic' electronic trance-type, meaning that although it was one of those one-man-band-type projects, I did not use any drum machine or sequencer programming. (No quantizing or any such program was utilized as well.) Best suited for those into complex rhythmic stuff with odd-time sigs that still tries to maintain a groove: heavy rhythmic emphasis! The two other earlier cds on the website -- the ones with the similar mask covers -- were recorded on more 'primitive' equipment and aren't quite as unique in structure, although they probably have a more overt Crimson influence. (There's also a few reviews of each included for those into that sort of stuff.)
