Also what about the Details of his Drumkit? It looks like he used a Ludwig Kit with two large Bass Drums in a White Marine Pearl Wrap Finish. Also, what would be the best way to have The Flaming Eyes image transferred on to two Bass Drum Heads like Giles had? Their does not appear to be any real good Close-Up Photos of this at all. Any info would be great! Thank you. I still have a minuscule personal experience in relation to a 'traveling muso' lifestyle, but the smoking issue has great relevance. Having lived the soundscapes at Salisbury Cathedral, I still cannot countenace the booing at the G3 gigs, but would love to have beeen bothered to get off my arse to attend, to give mostly silent personal support of this particular creational activity via Mr Fripp; I have no need to inform the world of my personal musical and situational enjoyment of musical high points, even attending such a gig in which 20 minutes of soundscapes may well be a personal high point, and an statement as to my preferences in musical entertainment and creation despite the odds. I'm still not happy re the KC situation (even if it is in my own imagination, and I DO have one) re Europe and Touring, but hey WTF, I can only admire this typical English Stoicism, SUL, and bugger any one else,i'm making a point /enjoying myself type of flagellation. So forget the ''who cares who's in KC' thread, more power to your elbow / bum comfort Mr Fripp. Create on Stumpy, Wessex ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 10:30:27 -0700 (PDT) From: rone Subject: TU review >From: Iain Robertson >Would anyone who's heard the TU side project from Gunn/Mastelloto like >to comment? I have the album. It's not bad... many quiet moments interspersed throughout the raucousness. It's maybe somewhat similar to a cross between Rhythm Buddies and BPM&M. I still don't have a "handle" on how i feel about it... i need to listen to it another few times. rone -- {Regarding SCO's claims against Linux,} the idea that I came up with is that Linux should claim to be a parody of UNIX, since parody is Fair Use and Protected Free Speech and all that. - Anthony de Boer ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 09:57:59 -0700 From: Ralph Foster Subject: NY3 & Exposure >Along these lines, I've been pleased to see the chatter in regard to >Fripp's "Exposure." Anyhow, that's the way >it is because it is that way... Exposure is an all-time favorite of mine as well. I remember buying it practically on the day it was released on the basis of Fripp's name, but not really getting it at first. A month or two later a few friends on mine and I were at an apartment over an antique shop in a small mountain town with no neighbors within earshot of a loudly playing stereo. It was 2 or 3 in the morning and we had just got back from a tripped out hike in the mountains and were still buzzing. We played Exposure over and over at the maximum non-bleeding volume -- and we all finally got it. In contrast to you, though, NY3 is one of the highlights for me on side one. But side two, ahh, that's the stuff. Early "skysaw" guitar and some raging songs. The first time I'd seen Fripp live was on Peter Gabriel's first solo US tour, so it was really great to hear Gabriel on the album. We had manual turntables, so we got the endless loop at the end of the second side, which is a great way to end such an intense album. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 04:52:27 EDT From: Gelberronald Subject: Massive Question? I've just got the Japan Victor Co. reissue of Pete Sinfield's "Still" in the mini-card sleeve (cat.no. Victor VCP-62745), but there appears to be a mastering problem with track 6, (House of Hopes and Dreams). Beautiful sound and packaging, but there's a wee problem. Between 1:20 and 1:21 there is a short but noticeable breakup in the sound. It's not a "skip" or a "stick" but more of a drop-out. Shame it had to be this track and not a naff one like "Wholefood Boogie". And as the disc cost NZ$56 I'm a bit miffed. But before I decide whether to seek a replacement I'd like to know if any ETers also have this Japanese issue of the disc and have noticed the same problem? I would be REALLY grateful to find this out. Thanks, David Maclennan ------------------------------ End of Elephant Talk Digest #1183 *********************************
