Nobody expects Ford to replace them for free. Learning that breaking things has negative consequences is part of growing up. Record companies (and car manufacturers) should not be expected to subsidise the process." I really don't think that's a fair analogy.. And what's with all the pro-industry talk around here? Am I the only non-record exec on the thread?? I think we all agree that the CD format is designed to be mass-producable at the LOWEST possible price to the industry as possible, right? They could have made CDs come in a plastic case like a diskette, (which actually did exist for a brief period) but that would have cost more to produce and increased their lifespan. And who wants that? Also, as for the car analogy, 15 year olds aren't the core "Car-Buying Audience"-- if they were, we'd all be driving bumper cars. But teenagers ARE the core Record Buying Audience.. And that is a factor to consider.. And to everyone who has NO INTEREST in discussing "cd durability" on the ET thread, I'm SORRY for bringing this silly topic up in the first place, hopefully this will be the end of it (for real this time). Although I also don't think ET is really the place for discussion on the possible war in Iraq.. Hopefully that topic won't get too far before it gets stomped out.. Well, I am thinking that the guy who said that hasn't spent much > time with his Crim. Welcome Mark...it's funny you should mention this, because I was thinking the same thing tonight as I drove my 13 mile each way commute listening to TPTB on my iPod (I live in LA and it takes 40 minutes on a good day to go those 13 miles!). I was also thinking about how hard it is just to come up with new ideas for music these days, and whether it gets harder or easier as your own body of work accumulates over time like KC's has. Even through all the changes over 34 years, some core KC elements have remained. Although I find Adrian's lack of lyrical inspiration on TPTB troubling, not only borrowing a lyric from his solo work, but repeating it several times throughout the album. HWWYHTBHW is clever, but he's pretty much admitting to writer's block! Overall the album is still great, with some burning P@/Trey grooves and Robert/Adrian intertwined monster stomping. On the tour front, tickets for the Wiltern show in LA suddenly went on sale at Ticketmaster on Wednesday of this week (it's the last show of this leg of the tour). SGI Ticketing did not show the LA date yet, so I went ahead and bought a ticket for...drum roll please...$66 with all the TicketBastard service charges. And, for the first time ever, I bought a TicketSlave ticket without actually having an assigned seat. It just says I'm in the first section on the floor, it didn't even tell me the row (it's a reserved seat, not general admission). I guess it'll be printed on the ticket when I get it, I hope.
