With equal respect, if you choose to elevate already-human musicians of the status of being 'an unreachable idol, star or even god' then that is an issue for you to address, not a cue for the musician to reveal his private life. bruce higgins wrote... > I'm only about 2/3 of the way through my first listen to Club 21, but > it is something of a treasure. I concur. Some of the recent KCCC releases have been gems, but this one shines brightly amidst them all. True it's fragemntary, but that's a quality I have ome to like. When I first heard this it sounded to me like how they might have tackled the ProjeKcts back in the 1980s. diderot-jr wrote... > > Hmmmm, I see what you mean - I have the same 'defect' on the mini-LP > > gatefold version. I have seven CD players in the house and it only plays properly on one of them, being a DVD-ROM drive on a PC. On every other player (hifi or computer) it eithr fails to read the TOC (showing 'ERROR' when inserted) or gets as far as 'Cirkus' and then starts causing seek problems everywhere. I had it changed for another but the problem persists, which makes me think it's a pressing flaw. DGM have been kind enough to offer me a replacement so I'll get it from them directly, but of all the bazillion CD I have bought in the last decade or so, the only ones with pressing defects have been those from DGM. Does anyone else share this experience? On "happy...", as I'm sure you're aware, there is a track called "Larks' Tongues In Aspic (Part IV)". To me, so far, this is the ultimate progressive rock track of all time... I just love it. Now to my question: do you know of anywhere I can get guitar tabs for this song? I've searched everywhere, and I just can't seem to find it. I'd appreciate any help you can. Well, Diderot, this also decribes my copy to a 'T'; it was pre-ordered from DGM. I have to hand it to Jim: this is not something that realy jumps out at you, and you pactically *have* to be listening on headphones to notice it, so it is not a particularly egregious misstep. But it is there. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jan 2003 15:08:17 -0500 From: "josh chasin" Subject: Re: Discipline, Levin/Bruford, et#1086 Thanks Terry. I should have double checked the liner notes before the comment. I too bought my first then-current Crim album in that era-- Discipline. Totally turned my head around. Brainticket albums are available at almost every major online retailer. Bestbuy,Amazon/CDnow,Barnes and Noble,Tower, etc. so they are certainly obtainable. (and often bootlegged) Ebay is also a good source. Just make sure they are really Brainticket albums and not someone using our good name, like Brainticket Records (unrelated) for example....or one of the sampling bands. And if you think the compressed MP3 version of Cottonwoodhill should carry a warning, just imagine how devastating a fully remastered CD would sound. There is a big difference, and of course I believe the artwork of an album is also part of the experience. The same goes for the 24 bit KC remasters. Anyone with a good stereo would probably be unsatisfied with an MP3 after hearing them. As for the question "has anyone ever bought a Brainticket album?" Yes,they still sell after 30 years and there is even a recent release. Now,to fully bring this back to a KC discussion group.... Joel (the founder of Brainticket) and I saw KC in Orlando Florida,July 2001. It was a great concert, although my KC experience from 1974 was by far my most memorable. You can hold something like 300 CD's of so worth of music on the player and you won't have to worry about it scratching. Just a suggestion. Oh, and to reply to what Paul said, I would think the vast majority of ET'ers listen to other music then just King Crimson. But whilst it did respond in part to the original query I need to explicitly back Toby on his response. To be fair he normally (or seems to) gives free reign to our various meanderings and more power to his editorial elbow for that. However, I also fail to see the need to know how many women RF has had in his lifetime. I'm always keen to know about KC music, etc, but musicians like everyone else have a right to a certain amount of privacy, particularly if they do not court "celebrity" and its attendant attention seeking. My answer to the "profdavy" request would be, enjoy the music, but grow up and get a life. If you haven't you should definately pick it up. Sean Malone has put together a unique package with gifted musicians including Bill Bruford and Steve Hackett. Also features Jim Matheos and Jason Gobel among others. Music is similar to KC, but very original and adventurous in it's own. Steve and Bill play on all but a few tracks. Nice to see them working together again! I saw Bruford on tour with Genesis back in 1976, and this is the first time since then that Steve and Bill have worked on a project. Thanks to Sean Malone for putting this together. I really disagree.. This is America and we ain't communists.". Your statement shows that you are ignorant to what the ideals of communism actually are. Perhaps you intended to put forward the idea that we should not be censored, or that we do not live in a dictatorship. Or maybe you meant that we are not a part of a fascist society. Those examples would be correct. It is unfortunate that, in America, communism has become synonimous with these negative ideas, based on our dealings with countries who tyrannical leaders rule under the guise of what they have branded "communism". One should look further into ideas or take the time to learn what such concepts actually are, before one decides to make such an off-based example. USA, indeed... unfortunately, the conservative party are taking their ignorance and paranoia to the masses, and is spreading like a disease throughout this "land of the free". bahtology ------------------------------ End of Elephant Talk Digest #1088 *********************************
