It sounds very much like Robert's work circa David Bowie's "Heroes." There have been other guitar solos (soli) reminiscent of RF's style - and gosh darnit, there well should be. Another ad (for a snowblower) caught my ear. Though I was in another room from the telee, the music made me think of the intro to Cirkus. Finally, King Crimson could have their music used in ads without "selling out" like Eric Clapton has (and Neil Young hasn't.) Think of it. We'd enjoy while the others just soak it in and buy product. Now, I'm finally going to visit London. I'll be pretty busy with work most of the time but I will have a day or two to hang out. I'm not so interested in visiting Buckingham Palace or Big Ben. I want to check out the music scene and tours. Any suggestions on a Beatles tour (Abbey Road)? Or Crim-related sights, sounds, and smells? Cool record stores (not Tower or HMV ... I've been to those here, in the US ... unless they're, somehow, different than their US counterparts). My play time will be Friday and Saturday, January 17 and 18. Any good concerts going on then? Or cool night clubs with a progressive bend? Reply to crimsonkng at yahoo dot com Thanks. The first time I saw KC live was during the original LTIA tour, 197? at Essex University. Waiting to go into the lecture theatre that served as a concert venue (not the students union stage for some reason) Fripp walked passed us, stood around for a moment with his guitar in a very nice custom leather case, and then went inside. Did we (me and a friend) speak? No, we were too in awe at actually seeing the great man! Would I now, of course! Faggot... I seem to remember that this has been covered before, but the reference in Cat Food is to do with Sinfield being a vegetarian. A faggot here in the UK is like a meat ball, and the reference is to a vegetarian version of said food item. The other, offensive?, use of the word is not mainstream in the UK; we have plenty of others unfortunately! I hope you will indeed let this drop, because every time you accuse me of having or having expressed this opinion, I have to reiterate that I said no such thing. This sort of attack is [slanderous] "ad hominem", and as an action it belies the respect for others' opinions that you claim. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Jan 2003 20:03:36 +0000 From: Mr Tea Subject: Clicks in Poseidon This from Elephant Talk - dated 05-01-03 06.55 am: > The seconds are accompanied by a loud and annoying tick at just after 7 > minutes in track 7. Is this supposed to happen? Yes. At least, it happened just that way on the vinyl copy I bought back in the early 70s - so if it's a 'flaw in the pressing', it's a longstanding one. I can't say I ever found the clicks/ticks annoying (probably because I never thought they were a recording error). Their slight irregularity sets up a nice mood of apprehension before the onslaught that follows. I believe it is intentional, just like the electronic ticking on the studio version of The Sheltering Sky. If anyone knows for sure, please post.
