I agree with you the English title comes across as pretty artless. Japanese for "Please wait (for me)." The lack of any softening agents (like, jaa, chotto, shoushou, ne, waruikedo) really gives it a very direct intimate tone, and is also pretty polite for a guy. I don't know if he just picked it out of his tourist's Japanese handbook or a first semester course and is thus using it unadorned, or what, but the upshot is that I can't think of a more emotionally-laden parting words from a guy to a girl. It leaves so much unsaid that need not be said... The title was listed as Hidden in Heaven. It has not been released yet (along with another Orb Album titled Orbus Tyrannus) because of legal problems with Orb's label Big Life. What I want to know is what other people think of this collaboration?! The Orb - masters of "ambient house" - having both sides of dance music and music to explore, listen to and space out to; working with Robert Fripp - guitarist extraordinare, psychedelic music maestro (sorry for the superlatives!). I think it will be an awesome album. Anyone else have any confirmations, thoughts, or ideas on this collaboration? Anyone want to care to compare this to previous of Fripp's collaborations? -Michael [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] Date: Fri, 3 Sep 1993 10:43:54 -0600 From: David Ewing Subject: "Thela Hun Ginjeet MCGLINCJ at bcvms dot bc dot edu (Joe) writes: > Gees! Anybody? Buehler? Thanks!!! "Thela Hun Ginjeet" is an anagram (scrambled letters) for "Heat In The Jungle". And, in the unlikely event that any of you Eno fans don't know, "King's Lead Hat" is an anagram for "Talking Heads". Here's a follow-up question: what are the first two words in THG? They always sounded like Belew-speak to me. Finally saw the US domestic CD for the latest Fripp/Sylvian -- for you guitar playing aspirants, Robert displays his trademark right hand Guitar Craft posture in the picture on the cover. So, if you've knowledge of > this product (who's supposedly selling it anyway?), let me know. Thanks. I got a good look at Fripp's rack. He uses an Eventide Harmonizer H3000. Some of the features of this device: 1. Harmonize up to two parts diatonically. Can be used to produce Boston/Allman Brothers type harmony guitar lines. Any scale can be programmed. Microtonal scales are also possible. 2. Reverb 3. Digital Delay. Add an expansion card and you get up to *95 seconds* of delay, with sampling. You can speed up the loop, slow it down, or play it in reverse. 4. Backwards pitch shifting. Handy for playing backwards guitar parts as in the solo in "Heartbeat". 5. Miscellaneous. The unit has various DSP elements such as filters (with resonance, that can be driven into self-oscillation), summers, multiplyers. Combine them any way you like to create your own effects. The newer Eventides have Compression and Dynamic Processing algorithms that allow you to program your effects to respond in various ways depending on how loud or how soft you pick your guitar. The unit also has a Karplus-Strong-like string synthesizer. Effects parameters can be modulated by MIDI, input volume (if your unit has the Dynamic Processing features), and/or LFOs comparable in complexity to those found on powerful synthesizers. The Eventide H3000 and H4000 effects processors are quite expensive ($3000 to $5000 US, depending on choice of options such as sampling board). However, they are unmatched in programming potential and real time control. I don't think there are any other effects devices that are contain features that are comparable in scope and power to #5 above. One of the more extreme examples of an Eventide Harmonizer in action is probably "Alien Water Kiss" on Steve Vai's _Passion and Warfare_. Henry Kaiser is another accomplished Eventide user. Sorry for all the technical info, but I had to try to point out just how powerful this unit really is. It seems obvious to me that Sylvian should be the voice > of the new Crimson, letting Belew concentrate on guitar. S/F is supposed to be just a side project. I suppose Fripp deems the S/F group to be somehow unworthy of the King Crimson name. Or perhaps he feels that he needs Adrian's presence in the band in order for it to bear the name. Who truly knows? I'll leave the question of whether Sylvian ought to be in Crimson up to other Discipline readers (although its been beaten to death already). The fact that Adrian didn't show up at the Crimson jam session (according to Trey Gunn) makes me continue to wonder if Adrian truly wants to be a part of the band.
