I do not think that those photos of Mr. Fripp on Live Groove have been taken by a flash photographer. See the shadows on his face, for example. Professional photographer has tools that can be used without a flash. I am just an amateur (photography is just a hobby), but I have such tools and I know from personal experience that concert photos without a flash are much better than photos with flash. Just use correct aperture, shutter speed and ISO level. For example f/2.8, 1/200 and ISO 800 gives good results, but this depends on ambient light of course.
